Key Stage 3

KS3 ICT at Ravensbourne
 
All Key Stage 3 students are taught by well-qualified, dedicated ICT practitioners and encouraged to use a wide variety of ICT equipment and software in our well resourced (mostly air conditioned) classrooms.
 
During the Key Stage 3 phase, students will follow programmes of study which will engage, encourage, enthuse and equip our young people in preparation for the future technological challenges of the near and far future.
 
Students will gain knowledge and experience of a wide variety of Industry Standard and education specific software in order to be able undertake challenging and innovative ICT based projects and to become confident and autonomous users hardware and software.
 
In Year 7 students will learn how to:-
  • create publications for different audiences
  • design, implement and analyse questionnaires
  • carry out research using a wide range of sources, checking its reliability and viability
  • write reports
  • deliver presentations which include sound, text, graphics
  • set up a promotional campaign.
 
During Year 8, students will undertake:-
  • extended projects in Modelling, using spreadsheets to model and simulate real and imagined situations
  • a wide-ranging research and analysis project
  • investigate control technologies.
 
The skills, knowledge and understanding gained during this time will equip them to begin their GCSE equivalent qualification in Year 9.
