The Design and Technology department at The Ravensbourne School offers two exciting routes through Product Design at Post 16:
- § GCE Product Design: Graphics with Materials Technology
- § GCE Product Design: Textiles Technology
GCE Product Design: Graphics with Materials Technology. This course is ideally suited to those students with a keen interest in the important role of the designer within an ever changing technological world. It seeks to explore the range of resources, materials and manufacturing processes available to the designer in order to produce high quality and marketable products.
GCE Product Design: Textiles Technology. This course aims to provide an opportunity for students to develop their own creativity, capability and entrepreneurial skills, to apply knowledge and understanding to a range of technological activities and to develop critical thinking and collaborative skills.
Student Qualities
Students following these courses must posses a good standard of designing and making skills. They must be both creative and innovative in their approach to design and have the necessary application of skills to produce high quality outcomes. Entry requirements: GCSE grade ‘B' at least in either a graphic or textiles based course,

Prospects in Higher Education
These courses offer excellent progression from GCSE through A-level to design related degree courses including; architecture, fashion and textile design, interior design, graphic design, product design, industrial design, illustration, computer aided design, jewellery design 3-d design and of course Design and Technology teacher training. Students are well placed to apply for Art and design foundation studies courses on successful completion of these courses.
