KS4 GCSE Media
GCSE Media Studies - AQA
What will I learn?
You will learn about a wide range of aspects from the media including magazine, newspapers, film promotion and moving image production. The course is based in the study of media language, representation, audience and institution but also gives students various opportunities to produce media products across a range of mediums.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is split between four pieces of coursework and one exam in year 11. Your coursework will be marked and you will have the chance to go back over the work and improve your grade. The exam is a case study which will be seen a short period of time before the exam, you will prepare for this topic in lessons and write up your answers in the exam. The grades from your exam and coursework are added up and you are given a final grade between A* and E. The exam is worth 40% of your final mark and the coursework is worth 60%.
What can I do after I’ve completed the course?
Many of our students go on to Post 16 to study AS and A2 Media Studies and many of them have gone on to University and jobs in the media. However, the skills that you learn are universal and will help you in any course or job you decide to do in the future.
