BTEC First Certificate in Media - Edexcel
 
What will I learn?
 
You will enjoy a varied course which incorporates print media, video production, animation and ICT skills, all in response to work-related briefs. This course will help to prepare you for a career in the Creative Industries, including: TV Production, Film Production, Print media, Advertising and Marketing. This qualification will provide opportunities for you to develop a range of skills and techniques, qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
 
How will I be assessed?
 
100% Coursework
The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First Certificate in Media consists of one core unit plus two specialist units that combined total 180 guided learning hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.
 
Core unit:
  • Research for Media Production
Possible Specialist units:
  • Video Production
  • Advertising Production
  • Animation Techniques
  • Digital Graphics
 
All units are assessed through a coursework portfolio and there is no assessment through external examination. 
 
What can I do after I’ve completed the course?
 
Many of our students go on to Post 16 to study the BTEC Extended Diploma in Media Production, many of them have gone onto study a Media University course later on. A BTEC in Media will help you find jobs in television, advertising, architecture, computer graphics, games and software design, the fashion industry, printing, publishing, media, display, photography, design, jewellery, journalism, sculpture, ceramics and teaching – to name a few.
