Art & Design
MediaArts Faculty ART AND DESIGN
Welcome

Art and Design at The Ravensbourne School, at all Key Stages and Post 16, is taught both thematically or towards work related project briefs. The Art Department is made up of 4 full-time teachers and a Specialist MediaArts technician. All members of staff teach students across all 3 Key stages. The Art department offers the following specialist art subjects at KS4 and KS5; GCSE and BTEC First Certificate; AS and ‘A’ Level Art and Design; BTEC National Diploma. The Art department has recently been refurbished and now has specialist studios for Silkscreen Printing, Ceramics and Photography in addition to specialist teaching areas. As a result, Art continues to expand and develop its curriculum, offering a wide range of academic and vocational courses to suit all abilities. The Art and Design department seeks to promote the creative process across all the key stages, developing a wide range of Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) for all of our students including: Independent Enquires, Effective Participants, Reflective Learners, Team Workers, Self-Managers, and Creative Thinkers. We extend our students learning through providing extra curricular activities, including weekly art clubs, an extensive educational visits programme, community arts projects, national and international competitions. We regularly invite visiting artists into the department and run professional workshops, developed to extend students abilities and understanding of the creative industries.
